After spending almost seven months on remand pending
trial on a murder charge, Tagdhari
Mohebir was yesterday freed by Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys.
The Magistrate allowed Mohebir to go home with his family
after the Director of Public Prosecutions instructed that the
murder charge be withdrawn.
Mohebir was charged for the murder of 34-year-old businessman
Vishwanauth
Sukhai, who was shot dead at around
01:30hrs on March 6 at Shell Road , Kitty.

It is alleged that Sukhai, called ‘Stallion', of Sandy Babb
Street , Kitty, was shot while sitting in his vehicle outside a
friend's house.
The bullet reportedly penetrated Sukhai's left arm and struck
him in the region of the heart, killing him almost instantly.
The police had alleged that Mohebir, along with another man,
shot the businessman during a robbery.
Reports at the time stated that Sukhai went out with some
friends and was dropping home one of his colleagues when the
incident occurred.
Police had said that Sukhai's friend was standing outside his
car when Mohebir along with his alleged accomplice pounced upon
them.
It was alleged that Mohebir's reported accomplice relieved
the businessman's friend of cash and jewellery while Mohebir,
who was reportedly armed, approached Sukhai.
It is alleged that Sukhai attempted to come out of his
vehicle and Mohebir opened fire, fatally injuring the
businessman.
Sukhai was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he
was pronounced dead.
