They were both patients of the New Amsterdam hospital when they succumbed.

According to reports, Persaud who lives with her husband and their two children was suffering from some form of illness and was not getting any better despite visiting several doctors.

Last Thursday around 06:30hrs, Persaud was seen frothing in her yard by her husband.

When the man enquired what had happened, Persaud told him that she had taken poison.

She further told her husband that their five-year-old son had also taken the toxic liquid, since the bottle was left on a table.

They both were rushed initially to the Skeldon Hospital , but their condition was so serious, that officials there transferred them to the more equipped New Amsterdam facility.

However, despite the efforts of the medical personnel, Persaud and her son died. Police have so far taken statements from the woman's husband and are hoping to conclude their probe soon.
