dead in Demerara River

Police are investigating the circumstances under, which Khelawan Budhu of Cornelia Ida, New Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, met his death.

Budhu's partly decomposed body was found floating in the Demerara River , at about 09:00 hrs yesterday in the vicinity of B.E.V Fisheries Wharf.

The 63-year-old father of five was last seen on Monday at Happy Acers, East Coast Demerara.

Budhu, of Lot 67, Cornelia Ida, New Housing Scheme left his home at about 06:30 hrs wearing a brown shirt, black pants, brown boots, red and black hat and red and black haversack.

When his body was found yesterday it was clad in long black pants with black sneakers on the feet. There was a gold-coloured watch on the hand and a pair of spectacles attached to the belt.

Reports stated that Budhu was last seen leaving his work place at about 19:30 hrs at Happy Acers, ECD.

However relatives said that he never returned home from work that day and on Tuesday they made a missing persons report at the Leonora Police Station.

Up to late last evening, Budhu's family was unaware that he was dead.

When Kaieteur News contacted the family and told them about the unidentified man who was fished out of the Demerara River , they immediately went to the Ruimveldt Police Station.

At the station the dead man's daughter identified his watch, his spectacles, belt and gold band that he was wearing.

“We ain't got no family problem and the only thing he left the house wid was his lunch in his haversack. He is a very quiet and peaceful person and he don't drink so we really don't know what happen,” a relative said.

Only a month ago Budhu returned from the United States .

A police press release stated that Budhu's body bore no marks of violence and that it is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home.

A post-mortem is to be performed soon.

Group,

Sutley should be able to say whatever he feels, however, raping Jagdeo's wife is not the answer. I know there are high tensions in the bigger islands between afros and Indians and it must be addressed, so therefore sutley should not be censured. Every opinion counts whether it is approved or disliked.

I too think that the words in the post is a bit too graphic but one
can understand & share the frustration & pain of the victims as the
genocide continues. A point to note is that if this trend continues
unabated, then soon there won't be people of Indian descent in Guyana.
Because they will either be dead of they would have left Guyana.

I can understand that the Government in Guyana seems to be incompetent and is promoting Tourism and the Cricket World Cup but is doing nothing to control the Bandits who are terrorising the Country.
