Police in Berbice yesterday morning fished out
the bound and battered body of a man from near a
koker at Springlands, Corentyne.
Ganchand
Mangru who is said to be in his
mid-thirties went missing from his Black Bush
Polder home Wednesday last.
Reports are that the man might have stopped at
a rum shop at Springlands.
Relatives, according to reports, had made
several checks at the homes of friends for Mangru
but no one reported seeing him.
However, yesterday morning a resident of
Springlands spotted the battered body of Mangru
floating near the Cummings koker.
An alarm was raised and several persons rushed
out of their homes.
Police were later summoned to the scene and
ranks fished out the body. Stabroek News was told
that Mangru's head bore several marks of violence.
He appeared to have been hit over his left eye.
His back was badly bruised as well as his
shoulder. His hands were bound and his clothes
torn. Clad in a blue shirt with matching jeans and
white boots, Mangru's body is presently at the
Skeldon Hospital mortuary.
