Gajraj was instrumental in curbing crime wave Dear Editor, I know that many persons are skeptical over Home Affairs Minister Ronald Gajraj resuming duties, and it was worrying when reporters waylaid him at Parliament and took his quotes out of context. It is also evident that the main Opposition Party and political activists are pulling many people's emotional strings about the whole Gajraj scenario, but what we have to realise is that Minister Gajraj in some way was instrumental in curbing the crime wave in 2002-2003. As was pointed out by him, he had to get information from sources since the police were unable to get vital pieces of information that were critical in crime fighting. If we are honest with ourselves, during that period many lives were lost, and persons were living in fear of becoming the next victim. And believe it or not if nothing was done, you would have heard we had an incompetent Minister. Sabrina Narine
