Remanded on armed robbery, buggery charges

Magistrate Chandra Sohan yesterday refused bail to a man when he appeared to answer to the charges of robbery under arms and buggery. According to the New Amsterdam Magistrate's Court report Arvind Archibald, called 'Deportee' on August 28, at Hampshire Village, Corentyne, armed with a knife, allegedly robbed a woman of two gold rings, one diamond ring, one pair of gold earrings and $8,000 cash, a total value of $96,000.

He buggered the woman

It is also alleged that on the same day and at the same place he buggered the woman.

She reported both matters to the police and Archibald was arrested and charged with the offences. The charges are indictable so he was not required to plead. He was remanded to prison. The case was transferred to the Albion Magistrate's Court for September 12.
